Those Dirty Windows

After being cooped up with all the bad weather that we have had during the Winter months and Spring at our hands touch, it is time once again, to clean up our clutter and organize our homes. One of the most important things that bring light and warmth into our homes are our windows. I have to admit between cleaning out closets and nooks, windows is one of my least favorite chores to do. Preparing to clean your windows can be a task within itself. If, you have long tall windows as I do, you will find that you have to pull out your extension ladder along with your water hose to make things easier.

As I find myself getting older and having trouble with vertigo, I get a little nervous about climbing ladders. You cannot clean windows alone unless you are lucky enough to have them at ground level and at hands reach. When cleaning your windows you need to start outside first as cleaning your screens to remove bugs and debris first, will save you time in the long run. I have found that the car brush is very handy in cleaning of the screens. Just make sure the bristles are nice and soft.

What time of the day is the best time to clean my windows? Well, early morning and late afternoon when the sun is not the brightest will be your best time to clean. What cleaning products work the best? Well, any ammonia based product is the best, but here is homemade recipe that will do the trick using products you already have in your home. Also, finding the right paper towel can be tricky. There are few non-lint paper towels out there but I choose to use newspaper instead.

Homemade Glass Cleaner

Ingredients
1 cup rubbing alcohol
1 cup water
1 tablespoon vinegar

Using isopropyl alcohol and white vinegar together makes a quickly evaporating spray glass and mirror cleaner that competes with national brands. This can also be used to give a nice shine to hard tiles, chrome, and other surfaces.

Good luck my friends!!

Mom My Food Just Blew Up In The Microwave!!!

Sound familiar? Most all of us are guilty of putting things in the microwave uncovered. Always running here, taking Tommy to baseball practice and Sally to dance, never having time to slow down. That's why I decide to blog about easy ways to clean up messes that will give you time for things you really want to do.Who likes to clean? Let's face it, none of us do. We spend half our time at work and the other half sleeping. Funny, but true. So let's get started by talking about the most used appliance in your house "The Microwave". Who created it? Dr.Percy Spencer in 1964. Well, it was a little before my time but, I bet, he never thought it would be in every living household either. Okay, enough about history, let's get started why don't we. lol. A lot us now do prefer to use less chemicals in our everyday living, trying to repair our "Ozone" so this simple trick does not require nothing but water and a dish cloth even though I have applied a couple drops of dish detergent to help in the aid of removing any food buildup. Just wet your dish cloth until it is well saturated (dripping) and place in the center of your microwave and set your time to 4 minutes.Once it is finished, do not open the microwave for an additional 5 minutes so that the steam will loosen up the food particles so all you will have to do afterwards is open it up and wipe out.On some occasions you may have to repeat depending on how BAD it really is..lol. Well, I better get off of here and finish my cleaning.. Until the next time..
